Meet Canada’s Glyphosate Cartel

Forests across Canada are being poisoned, stripped, sold off under the banner of “vegetation management” and it’s all being done with taxpayer money. What looks like forestry policy is actually a tight network of corporations, ministries, and lobbyists working together to turn public land into private profit. The glyphosate spraying isn’t some misguided attempt at sustainability; it’s the foundation of a multi-billion-dollar system that keeps cash moving from taxpayers into corporate pockets.

Logistics

The chemicals come from Bayer, formerly Monsanto, and are distributed nationwide through Nutrien, Saskatchewan’s agribusiness giant. Bayer sells the product, Nutrien takes its cut, and taxpayers pick up the tab. Once the land is cleared, J.D. Irving moves in. Their pulp and paper mills depend on cheap softwood plantations created by wiping out biodiversity. These engineered monocultures don’t happen by accident; they’re designed and funded with public money to feed private empires.

British Columbia

In British Columbia, the Ministry of Forests authorized glyphosate spraying on more than a million hectares since the 1970s. They promised a phase-out years ago but quietly kept the program running. Two of the country’s largest forestry companies, are major beneficiaries, turning chemically managed stands into massive profits. Every step, government ministries sign off on the contracts that keep this pipeline alive.

Taxpayer funded spraying programs

Those stripped forests become fire-prone, the fires come, and lumber prices spike. The same corporations that helped engineer the problem profit on the scarcity they created. At the same time, governments lock down Crown lands under climate emergency powers, slap fines on the public, and restrict access to the land taxpayers paid to manage.

This isn’t forest management; it’s asset stripping dressed up in green language. It’s a cartel built on contracts, lobbying, subsidies, and political protection. Bayer, Nutrien, Irving, West Fraser, Canfor, and the ministries that keep approving the permits know exactly what they’re doing. The money flows up, the rights and resources flow out and the public pays for every step. Glyphosate has become the most widely used herbicide in Canadian forestry and many believe not only does it contribute to causing fire, it can also cause cancer!! Chronic disease epidemics and forest fires

In my 2019 article “Geo-Economics and Geo-Politics Drive Successive Eras of Predatory Globalization and Social Engineering - Historical emergence of climate change, gender equity, and anti-racism as State doctrines” I explained that accelerated globalization and USA corporate deregulation following the 1990s dissolution of the Soviet Union (USSR) coincided with a surge in agricultural use of glyphosate and initiation of several unprecedented chronic disease epidemics, which have only intensified to this day.

Glyphosate became “so safe you could eat it” in the government propaganda. Its overuse became “progress”. Most notably, it is used as a harvesting desiccant for wheat and peanuts and spawned epidemics of gut diseases and lethal allergies.

Here, the toxic application is aerial and non-specific. Glyphosate is the dominant active ingredient used internationally for control of vegetation in planted forests. The goal in forest applications of glyphosate is to increase profitability on harvesting. However, glyphosate is a powerful desiccant that transforms the living undergrowth into dry tinder underbrush. Add common drought and wind conditions, and any ignition (usually lightning) and you have largescale wild fires. In this post, I mainly want to share my written 2021 science report and recommendation to Health Canada to ban glyphosate in all food applications. The government refused to acknowledge any specifics in my report and announced a temporary pause in its plan to increase glyphosate limits.

I emphasize there are such strong associations between incidences/prevalence/deaths and glyphosate for more than 20 diseases, including:
