Genocide in Gaza

This has been a horrible time for myself and many of us witnessing the destruction and genocide going on in Gaza on a daily basis.

I know people here in Ontario who lost over 100 family members since Oct 07th and are now desperately trying to reach and rescue the few orphaned children that remain. The MP offices are useless.

To date, the amount of explosives dropped on Gaza is equivalent to two nuclear bombs, and yet our world leaders allow it to continue.

It is extremely difficult to watch it unfold and feeling utterly helpless. No one is listening to the cries for ceasefire. But we must keep praying.

For myself, I grew up watching this conflict closely since I was 15 years old. I attended my first protest in Ontario. I learned and watched and was troubled by this conflict for years as a university student. What would lead a 17 year old girl to go blow herself up in the middle of the street in Jerusalem and take down all innocent bystanders? This deeply troubled me as a young Muslim Canadian so far away from the conflict zone.

I learned as many people knew, that this never has been a conflict of one type of person against another, or one religion against another, it has only ever been about Power and Control and manipulating the masses. 

This is why the pandemic was so easy to see through; mass manipulation and control over the people.

I've worked with and supported Jewish Voices for Peace for many years and Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East. I learned of hundreds of groups within Israel and around the world that have tried endlessly for decades to find some resolution to end the occupation of Palestine, allow Palestinians to live free, normal lives and finally have people in Israel live a life where they were not in constant fear of attack.

The designation of apartheid has long been declared by people within Israel, activists, ex-military officers, journalists and academics. I learned about Miko Peled and other Israelis with similar stories. His own niece was killed in the attack by the 17 year old girl blowing herself up.

Living in Israel, he did not understand it either, news was tightly censored. He was told only that the 17 year old girl was a Muslim extremist convinced that killing innocent people was the only way, and that all of her people in Palestine were just like her. When his niece was killed, he forced himself to learn about the occupation and what that really meant for the people living in Gaza and the West Bank on a day to day basis. He learned the horrible life the 17 year old girl had had, and how she was brainwashed into extreme measures when she reached a point of total despair and nothing left to live for, after the loss and brutal killings of her loved ones and family members. He learned that there were groups taking advantage of young desperate Palestinians like the 17-year old girl, but that they were not the majority of the people. He learned the majority of people in Palestine only wished to be free from occupation, raise their children in peace and tolerable living conditions, and did not wish to fight back or cause harm to innocent people on the other side of the great wall.

The United Nations declared that by 2021 living conditions within Gaza would lead the strip of land to be uninhabitable by the 2.3 million people that lived there. In addition to deplorable living conditions, now they are being continually bombed and killed and stripped of food, water and electricity.

I know people within Israel have been protesting the actions of their government for decades, many at the threat of jail or deportation or worse. Even now, at the risk of their own lives. Sadly, no matter what people try to do, the powers in control do not actually want a resolution and never have. It looks like a black and white conflict, but it never is. The powers in control actually want extremism and hatred to justify wars and atrocities and finally allow them to exercise control over the masses. You will never see the truth in MSM, not even most alternative media outlets have been honest and transparent about the gravity of destruction and the toll of human loss. It is horrible. How many more journalists, doctors, humanitarian workers, parents and their children need to die before the bombings stop.

Since October 7th, we thought this would end in a few days, maximum a week. Sadly, it has escalated to the full annexation of the Palestinian people. 

As expected, exactly as the show plays out in Canada, protestors calling for peace and an immediate ceasefire are being villainized as hate speech and pro-hamas loyalists. The funny thing is there is a huge representation in the protests from Jewish communities across Canada and the US. They stand side-by-side in the call for peace and justice for all. Are those communities also pro-Hamas?

I encourage you to look for the truth and stand for humanity and peace and justice for all.

The following are a few things worth reading or viewing. This is an extremely troubling time, but we can only continue to pray for peace and we can continue to unite our voices.

There are protests calling for peace and immediate ceasefire every weekend in Toronto and often in KW.
