#ItalyChurchToo: Abuse survivors demand Italy church inquiry
Feb 15, 2022
ROME — Advocates for victims of sex abuse by Italian clergy launched a campaign to demand a cover-up inquiry, lamenting that deference showed the Catholic Church hierarchy in Italy has conditioned everything from criminal prosecutions to media coverage of the problem.
The Italian church clearly wants to avoid the type of outcome seen in France, where a panel of independent experts estimated that 330,000 children had been sexually abused over 70 years in the country by some 3,000 priests and church personnel, and that the crimes had been covered up "systematically" by the church hierarchy. Six cardinals accused of covering up sex abuse in Catholic Church
Mar 26.25
Six senior cardinals, including two considered strong contenders to be future popes, have been accused by campaigners of covering up sexual abuse in the Roman Catholic Church.
A bombshell dossier of complaints compiled by groups representing survivors of clerical sex abuse has been handed to Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican’s secretary of state and number two to the Pope.
The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (Snap), along with a survivors’ organisation called Nate’s Mission, allege the six cardinals either enabled or concealed sexual abuse committed by Catholic clergy, and called for the Holy See to immediately launch an investigation. The Vatican did not respond to a request for comment, nor has it publicly addressed the allegations.
The dossier of alleged cover-ups and mismanagement “marks the first time multiple high-ranking cardinals have been targeted …by co-ordinated, survivor-led action,” the campaigners said. “Survivors have done the work that church leaders refuse to do,” said Shaun Dougherty, president of Snap, which says it has more than 25,000 survivors and supporters in its network. Nuns too era: sexual exploitation by the priesthood

Another scandal is engulfing the Catholic Church. At a time when the Vatican has taken its most concrete steps to address a long ordeal with sex abuse and coverups, a growing chorus of nuns is speaking out about the suffering they have endured at the hands of the priesthood, including rape, forced abortion, emotional abuse and labor exploitation.
Abuse survivors demand accountability from Pope Leo

Survivors of sexual abuse by Catholic priests are calling for Pope Leo XIV to institute a zero-tolerance policy and for the church to investigate his handling of prior sexual abuse allegations. “He needs to be transparent. He needs to be honest,” says Peter Isely, a survivor of sexual assault by a Catholic priest and a co-founder of the Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests.
Peter Isely is a survivor of sexual assault by a Catholic priest as a 13-year-old boy growing up in Wisconsin. Peter is one of the founders and global affairs chief of SNAP, Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests. SNAP’s open letter in response to the new pope, quote, “highlights the grim reality underpinning the College of Cardinals — many who voted in this conclave actively shielded abusers, and many who will be appointed to the curia under this papacy bear similar stains,” they write.
Amy Goodman: Can you talk about your organization’s grave concerns about Cardinal Prevost being elected pope?
Peter Isely ISELY: Yeah. Can you can imagine how difficult this is for me to be sitting here for survivors to what they’re experiencing today, especially when survivors from Peru and some in the United States who were raped and sexually assaulted by Augustinians, the order that Prevost was provincial of and then global — head of the global order, what it felt like to see him walk out on that balcony, knowing that your family, you, your life has permanently changed because of how he has managed or mismanaged sexual abuse cases.
People need to know what the records on sexual abuse and cover-up are of these cardinals. We filed a Vos estis complaint, the official mechanism you’re supposed to use when a bishop has evidence of covering up sex crimes. In that filing, there is plenty of evidence — I’m not saying he’s guilty, but we’re saying it reaches well beyond probable cause that he covered up sex crimes as Augustinian provincial and as head of the Augustinian Order and then as a bishop in Peru from 2014 to 2023.
Evidence is that Prevost covered up these crimes
The worst is a case he was directly involved in. Three sisters who were sexually assaulted and raped by two priests in his diocese. One of the priests admitted to the church he committed these heinous, awful crimes against these girls. What Prevost did with that information is that he didn’t give it to justice officials, say, in Peru to find out if there’s any possibility of prosecution. He took that criminal evidence, like they do all around the world, and he shipped it via diplomatic pouch over here to the Vatican. That case was closed because of the civil statute in Peru. The man has sexually assaulted children. They were left in ministry. These victims had to go public. Imagine the courage of these three women, raped and sexually assaulted by two Peruvian priests. Prevost — I’m sorry, I hate saying this … the evidence is that he covered up these crimes. Continues at https://www.alternet.org/catholic-church-abuse/
Stop Celebrating the New Pope! What the hell is wrong with people?

Ever since Chicago-born Robert Prevost, now sporting the moniker Pope Leo XIV, was elected to the papacy, the world has been carrying on like a star-struck Oprah audience showered with freebies.
The 24/7 brainwashing apparatus known as mainstream media has showered us with stories of people who rearranged their European vacations so they could visit the corruption-plagued Vatican and witness the “historic moment” a bloke born on Chicago’s South Side got to assume the papal throne.
All this adulation, for a shady character implicated in numerous child abuse cover up scandals. Why are so many people so okay with pedophilia?
The Truth About Robert Prevost
In any remotely sane world, exposes like the one published in September last year by the Daily Compass would have seen Prevost immediately disqualified from the papal contest.
The Cover-Up Continues: The Church Turns on its Investigator
On February 14, 2024, the pope appointed Monsignor Edinson Farfán Córdova to be Prevost’s successor as the new bishop of Chiclayo. This was shortly after Prevost's successor apostolic administrator in Chiclayo, Monsignor Cornejo Monzón opened the Lute-Yusquan investigation in December 2023.
