Responses from Ontario big banks

Royal Bank, National Bank, BMO, Scotia Bank, and CIBC were contacted about their digital ID banking status. None of them were aware of digital ID requirements at their bank similar to TD.

It appears TD [Toronto Dominion] bank is the first in Canada to require digital ID. The TD Cardholder Agreement contains a new Access Agreement and Digital Banking Agreement.

The same day a TD Access Agreement is refused the card is closed.
The same day TD Digital Banking Agreement is refused online banking is disabled.

Section 11 Verified.Me

I spoke with TD Customer Care Apr 19.23 around 1:40 pm EST who stated:

IF YOU DO NOT REFUSE TD AGREEMENTS BEFORE APR 24.23 YOU AGREE TO THEM.

TD customers have until May 24.23 to refuse the Agreements however:

If TD Agreements are not refused by Apr 24.23

In the TD Cardholder Agreement customers also agree to technology service provider Agreements, each of which require thorough and careful reading.

After April 24.23, TD customers may or will have to contact each technology service provider in the TD Agreement to withdraw consent, which may not be that easy to do!

In the TD Agreement, the Verified.MeTM service is a third party digital identity service provided by SecureKey Technologies Inc. Using the Verified.Me service, users can share personal information held by participating organizations, such as Canadian financial institutions, with participating third parties that users want to transact with. https://securekey.com/partner-directory/

Throughout the months ahead, banks can collaborate with governments to build personal identity solutions that provide citizens with digital IDs that can be verified and authenticated.

The World Economic Forum [WEF] says financial institutions should spearhead digital identity schemes as they are heavily regulated and already own robust cybersecurity infrastructure to enable scalability.

Beer juggernaut Anheuser-Busch saw its value nosedive roughly $5 billion since Bud Light’s polarizing partnership with transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney.

"This is probably the biggest controversy we've seen in a long time," Schuhmacher told Fox News Digital. "There was a little bit of worry, especially in the South and the Midwest and especially in rural areas where retailers were reporting the, you know, their customers weren't happy with Bud Light and some retailers themselves weren't happy with Bud Light."
