Are you willingly giving your critical thinking skills to AI?
Are you seduced by chatbot sycophancy and flattery?
Why are data center names demonic?
Will you succumb to cognitive agency surrender?
We are seeing the creeping trend of AI summaries or summarizations replacing the actual source, combined with the removal, hiding and deletion of original sources as seen by Project Panama, where Anthropic has been “destructively scanning” old books – which sounds like the equivalent of burning books. Cognitive Agency Surrender: Defending Epistemic Sovereignty via Scaffolded AI Friction

Sycophantic AI decreases prosocial intentions and promotes dependence
Editor’s summary
The sycophantic (flattering, people-pleasing, affirming) behavior of artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots designed to increase user engagement, poses risks as people increasingly seek advice about interpersonal dilemmas. If AI is designed to tell users what they want to hear instead of challenging their perspectives, are such systems likely to motivate people to accept responsibility for their own contribution to conflicts and repair relationships?
Cheng et al. measured the prevalence of social sycophancy across 11 leading large language models (see the Perspective by Perry). The model’s responses were nearly 50% more sycophantic than humans’, even when users engaged in unethical, illegal, or harmful behaviors. Users preferred and trusted sycophantic AI responses, incentivizing AI developers to preserve sycophancy despite the risks. —Ekeoma Uzogara Continues at https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.aec8352

Project Panama: Scanning and Book Destruction at Anthropic
Aug 07, 2026
Book burning. Book pulping. Book vandalising. It’s all the fashion and, dare one say it, the rage. Libraries are carting them off to the dump. Repositories of memory are being shredded in favour of supposedly more useful digital formats. And now, Anthropic’s hungering for books, not as sources of enlightened knowledge so much as blue raw data for their Language Learning Models, is there for all to see. The result: a private research library able to nourish Claude, the company’s premier LLM. Continues at https://intpolicydigest.org/project-panama-scanning-and-book-destruction-at-anthropic/
Awareness
Technology is for individuals to benefit and leverage for more than just ourselves. When we share the closest truth, more humans get to grasp what’s really going on. How long would shredding repositories of memory and other silent weapons in this quiet war on man continue, if a critical mass of humans knew those and other consequences of unawareness are advancing a tyrannical world coup?
