Confused about politics, here’s why
By Michelle Leduc Caitlin

This compelling real-life tale of public relations and managerial manipulation is a story of fake news, false heroes and villains created by a political regime playing with power. The obfuscation is not limited to western actors. The film also addresses the loss of hope and sense of apathy that led to a shift towards embracing virtual “reality” and escapism.
The film’s description reads, "How we got to this strange time of great uncertainty and confusion where those who are supposed to be in power are paralysed and have no idea what to do.”
The confusion is ubiquitous, and it’s intentional. By understanding the game, the movie the Matrix gives us agency. Agency is empowering. Empowerment is what we need to survive uncertain times and thrive in the face of any circumstance.

Extraordinary events keep happening that undermine the stability of our world. Those in control seem unable to deal with them and lack any vision of a different or a better kind of future.
This film is about how, over the past 40 years, politicians, financiers and technological utopians, rather than face up to the real complexities of the world, retreated. They constructed a simpler version of the world in order to hang on to power. As this fake world grew, all of us went along with it because simplicity was reassuring. Even those who thought they were attacking the system - the radicals, the artists, the musicians, our whole counterculture - became part of the trickery, because they, too, had retreated into the make-believe world, which is why their opposition has no effect and nothing ever changes.
"This constant lying is not aimed at making the people believe a lie, but at ensuring that no one believes anything anymore.” Hannah Arendt

Seven ways to develop your sense of agency
By Paul Napper, Psy.
Apr 15, 2019
Taking control of your life means the ability to cut through all of what pulls at us, find emotional and physical balance, think more clearly, and advocate for ourselves so we can take a course of action that makes sense. With agency, we can feel more in command of our lives. Here's how to do it. Details in the link below.
1. Control stimuli
2. Associate selectively
3. Move
4. Position yourself as a learner
5. Manage your emotions and beliefs
6. Check your intuition
7. Deliberate, then act
