In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill. In their totality and in their interactions these phenomena do constitute a common threat which demands the solidarity of all peoples. Is CoR the self-appointed saviour of Earth?

Founded in 1968 at David Rockefeller’s estate in Bellagio, Italy, the CoR describes itself as “a group of world citizens, sharing common concern for the future of humanity.” It consists of current and former Heads of State, UN bureaucrats, high-level politicians and government officials, diplomats, scientists, economists, and business leaders from around the globe.

Fallacy of scarcity, limited resources and overpopulation

Commissioned by the Club of Rome, MIT researchers used the World3 system dynamics model for computer simulation that resulted in climate alarmism to support a grim vision of environmental and economic collapse.
Results of the simulation were set forth in crude black-and-white graph reproduced directly from line-printer output as follows.

Comparing the computer model with the real world one is struck first by how much has been left out. All the diverse resources that drive world industry—metals, energy, feedstocks—are amalgamated into a single generic resource. Likewise all pollutants are represented by one undifferentiated poison substance. And there is no geography in the model: All the world’s nations and peoples are one nation and one people.

'based on a computer model not facts' (well said by the way). AI (of one kind or another) has been dictating reality to us for ages now, and it's almost always wrong; yet still, people (people who should know better) now default to AI to tell them what's what (rather than do their own research). The introduction of SMART phones a generation ago reduced our collective intelligence by half (I would estimate). . . And AI will reduce us to the status of turnips in less than a generation. I'm not an anarchist, but John Zerzan made a profound observation in his: 'Running on Emptiness : The Pathology of Civilization' (I paraphrase): 'Every task you relegate to technology is a skill that atrophies and dies.' Hence, within a generation we will become vegetables, dependent on AI to tell us what is real... Good luck with that!
