Subject line: Please protect local voices in cell tower decisions
Dear [Salutation] [LastName],
I am writing as your constituent to ask for your support in protecting meaningful public participation and municipal involvement in cell tower siting decisions.
Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) is currently considering changes that would reduce public consultation requirements, reduce transparency and accountability, and replace locally-developed antenna siting protocols with a one-size-fits-all national process.
Regardless of one’s views on wireless technology, Canadians deserve meaningful opportunities to participate in decisions that affect their communities. Municipalities and local land-use authorities are best positioned to understand local circumstances and community concerns.
I believe that public consultation regarding cell towers should be strengthened rather than weakened, and that transparency and accessibility should remain central principles of federal decision-making.
I encourage you to review these proposed changes and support efforts to preserve local voices, municipal participation, and public accountability in cell tower siting decisions.

I wonder when people will "twig" that this constant asking government to do things and learn things and fighting to stop things they put through, could easily be better spent figuring out how to take care of things ourselves. I realize it seems impossible but it's not because we have the technology to do it now. We are not using it properly, that's the trouble.
